On Thursday, the Texas Rangers will face the Detroit Tigers. Texas will put Yu Darvish on the mound to face off against Detroit’s Robbie Ray.

On Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, Darvish gave up two runs on five hits, striking out 11 and walking three over eight innings in what ended up being Darvish’s second loss of the season. This was a tough one to swallow as Darvish was pitching great and had a shutout going into the seventh inning before Toronto got their runs off three hits in the eighth inning. Darvish is 3-2 with a 2.32 ERA. Darvish has been strong this season with seven quality starts out of eight. He’ll look to get back in the win column when he faces the Tigers Thursday.

Darvish has pitched well against current Detroit hitters only allowing a .218 average while striking out 25 batters in 78 at bats.

Ray will get his third start of the season after making a relief appearance on Sunday. Ray is 1-0 on the season with a .75 ERA. Last time Ray started was against the Minnesota Twins on May 11. He pitched six shutout innings and only gave up four hits. Ray hasn’t pitched much this season but he’s been dealing while he’s on the mound. The Tigers will hope he can keep that up when he faces an average Rangers offense.
