On Monday night, the Texas Rangers will send Tanner Scheppers to the mound to take on John Lackey and the Boston Red Sox. Tanner Scheppers' first Major League start could not have gone much worse as the big righty had no command of his pitches against the Phillies last Monday. He ended up going just four innings in that game and gave up eight hits, three walks and seven earned runs while striking out just two hitters.

Scheppers doesn't have much experience against any of the Red Sox hitters, so he will be hoping that he can use that to his advantage when he faces them. The only Boston player with a hit off of him is Will Middlebrooks, who hit a single in his only at-bat against the righty.

John Lackey was able to get his first win of the season against the Orioles last weekend. He went six innings and gave up two runs on just three hits while striking out six in the victory. His command was on point in the game, throwing 68 of his 90 pitches for strikes and walking just one Baltimore hitter.

One player in the Rangers' lineup who Lackey has faced plenty of times in his career is third baseman Adrian Beltre. These two have faced each other 64 times over the years with Lackey winning most of the matchups. Beltre has hit .213/.250/.377 against him with three home runs, 13 RBI and 14 strikeouts.
