The defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox will host the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park on Wednesday at  4:05 p.m. Taking the ball to start the game for the Rangers will be Robbie Ross, the 24-year-old left hander making his second career start. Opposing the youngster will be the veteran Jake Peavy, who will take his 132-98 record to the mound with him.

Ross made the first start of his career last week after making 123 appearances out of the bullpen. He was a solid reliever for the team and is currently 10-2 with a 2.65 career ERA. In his first start, he allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks with seven strikeouts in just five innings. He didn’t register a decision, but pitched well. The one thing he will need to be cautious of is throwing a lot of pitches. It took him just 5 innings to throw 97 pitches which over time, will destroy their bullpen.

Peavy played well for the Red Sox after being acquired in the middle of the season. He was 4-1 with the team a year ago and 12-5 overall. He won his season debut and will look to get on a streak against the Rangers. He has had mixed success in his career against the current Texas lineup, as Shin-Soo Choo is batting .429 with 2 home runs and Prince Fielder is batting .276 with a .705 OPS, while Adrian Beltre is batting just .222 with 2 home runs.
