On Tuesday, May 27, the Tampa Bay Rays will travel north of the border to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in the second meeting of a three game series. The Rays will send Alex Cobb to the mound to face a red hot Mark Buehrle.

Cobb is coming off a no-decision against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night in which he pitched 6.2 scoreless innings and only surrendered three hits on the night. Cobb had thrown 14 scoreless innings in his last two starts prior to being put on the DL with an oblique problem, and he started up right where he left off. Cobb is currently sitting at 1-1 with a 1.40 ERA and will try to get his second win of the season when he faces the first place Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Cobb has pitched well against the Blue Jays in his career only allowing 13 hits on 60 at bats while striking out eight. He’s held most of the lineup in check but he’ll have to be careful as the Blue Jays’ roster can explode for runs at any point.

Mark Buehrle will be on the mound for the Blue Jays and try to keep his streak alive and add another win to his major league best 8-1 record. On Thursday, Buehrle pitched seven strong innings in Boston and only gave up two earned runs while the offense took care of the rest. Toronto ended up winning 7-2 and gave Buehrle his eighth win on the season. Buehrle might be playing a bit over his head at the moment but he’s always been a reliable pitcher and he’s been a catalyst for this Toronto team that leads one of the toughest divisions in baseball.
