Left-hander Drew Smyly (6-10) will make his second start for the Tampa Bay Rays when they go up against Colby Lewis (8-8) and the Texas Rangers on Monday night.

Drew Smyly made his first start as a member of the Rays against the Oakland Athletics last week and ended up taking the loss. He went 5.1 innings in that outing and gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking two. Smyly now has a 3.98 ERA on the year and he has struck out 95 batters in 110.2 innings of work.

Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo has just one hits in nine plate appearances versus Smyly with an RBI and four strikeouts. Third baseman Adrian Beltre has four hits in seven at-bats against him with a walk and an RBI.

Veteran right-hander Colby Lewis pitched his first shutout of the season last Tuesday when he was able to defeat the Chicago White Sox on the road. He allowed just six hits in those nine innings of work and walked one while striking out seven. That was a rare good start for Lewis this year, as he still has a 5.50 ERA and he has given up 149 hits in 11.1 innings.

Outfielder Matthew Joyce is the only player on the Rays who has hit a home run off of Lewis, but he is just 1-for-5 overall against him with two strikeouts.
