On Wednesday, Alex Cobb will go for his sixth win of the season when the Tampa Bay Rays face St. Louis Cardinals starter Lance Lynn, who has won three straight games.

Last Friday, Alex Cobb was able to pick up his fifth win of the year when he beat the Minnesota Twins on the road. He pitched 5.2 innings in that outing and gave up just two runs on five base hits while walking two and striking out two. Cobb is now 5-6 on the season and he has struck out 70 opposing batters in 81.2 innings on the mound.

Cardinals veteran Jhonny Peralta is one of just two player on his team who has faced Cobb, but he is hitless against the right-hander with four strikeouts.

Lance Lynn was able to win his 11th game of the year last Friday when he defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers at home. He pitched six strong innings in that start and gave up just two runs on four hits while walking four and striking out nine. Lynn is now 11-6 on the season with a 3.13 ERA and he has only given up seven home runs in 120.2 innings.

Outfielder Matthew Joyce is 1-for-1 against Lynn in his career and is the only player on the Rays who has hit a home run off of him. First baseman James Loney is 2-for-3 against him with a double and an RBI.
