Jake Odorizzi will hope to stop a stretch of four straight bad starts when he and the Tampa Bay Rays go up against the New York Yankees, who will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound.

Jake Odorizzi was only able to make it through 4.1 innings last Monday in his start against the Chicago White Sox and ended up with his third loss of the season. He gave up four runs in that game on eight hits while notching five strikeouts and walked two. It has not been a great start to the season for Odorizzi as he now has a 6.85 ERA through 23.2 innings pitched.

Odorizzi hasn't faced any of the Yankees more than three times, but he has been able to keep Jacoby Ellsbury hitless in their three matchups.

Masahiro Tanaka had yet another solid start for the Yankees when he faced the Los Angeles Angels this past Sunday. He ended up with a no decision in the game, but he pitched well by going 6.1 innings and striking out a season-high 11 batters while giving up just two runs on five hits. He still has a perfect 3-0 record on the season and a 2.27 ERA.

None of the Rays have faced Tanaka yet, but they can expect to see a 92-93 mph fastball, an 84 mph slider and a 73 mph curveball. He mixes his pitches well and he gets a great deal of movement on all of them.
