Erik Bedard will make his third start of the season on Sunday when the Tampa Bay Rays face CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees.

Erik Bedard wasn't able to get his first win of the season when he faced the Boston Red Sox last Tuesday, but he did have his best start. He went five innings in that outing and gave up just one run on four hits while striking out a season-best four batters. His ERA is still pretty high at 5.52, but he still hasn't given up a home run this season through 14.2 innings.

Bedard has done better against Derek Jeter than most pitchers by holding him to just seven hits with no home runs in 34 at-bats. Ichiro Suzuki, on the other hand, has done very well against the lefty over the years, going 7-for-17 with a triple and one RBI.

CC Sabathia's two-game winning streak came to an end against the Seattle Mariners last Tuesday when he was only able to make it through five innings. He gave up four earned runs in that game on nine hits while striking out six and walking none. He has a 5.11 ERA on the season now, but his walks are down and his strikeout rate is up from last year.

Evan Longoria is one Rays' hitter who loves facing Sabathia, hitting .411 against him with six home runs and 13 RBI in 56 at-bats.
