On Monday night, Chris Archer will be going for his fifth win of the season when he and the Tampa Bay Rays go up against David Phelps and the New York Yankees.

Last Tuesday, Chris Archer pitched against the Pittsburgh Pirates and ended up suffering his fifth loss of the year. He pitched seven innings in that start and allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits while walking two and striking out seven. Archer only has a 4-5 record this season, but he also has a 3.29 ERA and he has only given up three home runs in 93 innings of work.

Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is 4-for-11 against Archer in his career with two doubles and a triple. Second baseman Brian Roberts is the only player on the Yankees who has hit a home run off of Archer.

27-year-old starter David Phelps had a rough outing against the Toronto Blue Jays last week, but he took the no decision rather than the loss. He pitched five innings in that game and allowed six runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out seven. Phelps is 3-4 this season with a 4.35 ERA and he has struck out 64 batters in 70.1 innings.

Rays veteran Ben Zobrist has five hits in 12 at-bats against Phelps with two doubles and two RBI. Outfielder Desmond Jennings is hitless against the right-hander in six at-bats.
