Alex Cobb will be hoping that he can make it three wins in four starts when he and the Tampa Bay Rays take on Kyle Gibson and the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.

Last week, Alex Cobb ended up settling for the no decision after pitching 6.2 innings against the Kansas City Royals. He allowed two earned runs in that game on six hits while walking two batters and striking out seven. Cobb currently owns a 4-6 record for the Rays with a 4.14 ERA, but he has been able to strike out 68 hitters in 76 innings of work.

Twins veteran Kendrys Morales has three hits in 10 at-bats against Cobb with an RBI and three strikeouts, while All-Star catcher Kurt Suzuki is 2-for-5 against him with two doubles.

Second-year starter Kyle Gibson pitched six shutout innings versus the Seattle Mariners on the road last week and ended up winning his eighth game of the year. He gave up seven hits in those six innings of work while striking out three batters and walking just one. Gibson is now 8-7 on the season and has only given up six home runs in 101 innings.

Rays first baseman James Loney has two hits against Gibson in four career at-bats with a double and two RBI. Shortstop Yunel Escobar is hitless against him in four at-bats and the right-hander has struck him out three times.
