24-year-old Jake Odorizzi (11-12), who is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA in September, will get the start for the Tampa Bay Rays when they go up against rookie Anthony Ranaudo (3-3) and the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.

Last Tuesday, Jake Odorizzi pitched six strong innings against the New York Yankees and came away with the win. He allowed just one run in six innings of work in that outing and walked one batter while striking out three. Odorizzi owns a 3.98 ERA this season and has been able to strike out 171 batters in 165 innings of work.

Red Sox outfielder Brock Holt has hit a home run off of Odorizzi in his career, but he is just 1-for-7 overall against him with three strikeouts. Veteran David Ortiz is just 1-for-10 against him with no walks and two strikeouts.

Anthony Ranaudo lost his third start in a row last Tuesday when he was beaten by the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. He went 5.2 innings in that game and gave up three runs on four hits while walking three and striking out three. The big right-hander now owns a 5.29 ERA following that loss and he has given up 33 hits in 32.1 innings on the mound this year.

Rays outfielder Brandon Guyer has one hit in three at-bats against Ranaudo with a home run and two RBI. None of the Rays have faced Ranaudo more than three times.
