22-year-old Michael Wacha will get the start for the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night and will be going up against veteran Erik Bedard and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Michael Wacha pitched pretty well against the Kansas City Royals last Thursday, but he ended up taking his fourth loss of the season. He went six innings in that start and allowed three earned runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out one, which is a season-low for him. Wacha now has a 4-4 record on the year and has only allowed four home runs in 79.1 innings of work.

Veteran outfielder David DeJesus is the only player on the Rays who has gone up against Wacha and he is 0-for-2 against him with a walk.

Last week, left-hander Erik Bedard was able to pick up his third win of the season by pitching six scoreless innings against the Seattle Mariners on his home field. He allowed just four hits in that game and walked one while striking out a season-high eight batters. Bedard has done a great job keeping the ball in the ballpark this season, holding hitters to just three home runs in 52.1 innings.

Cardinals outfielder Allen Craig has five hits in his 12 at-bats against Bedard with a double, two home runs and four RBI. Matt Holliday is 9-for-23 against him with two doubles and an RBI.
