On Wednesday night, 10-game winner Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals will face former All-Star Ryan Vogelsong and the San Francisco Giants in the second game of the teams' three-game series.

Adam Wainwright had another strong outing last week against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he ended up with the loss after not getting a single run from his offense. In that game, he pitched eight innings and gave up just one run on five hits while walking one and striking out seven. He now has a 10-4 record on the season with a fantastic 2.01 ERA and he has only given up 83 hits in 116.1 innings of work.

Giants outfielder Hunter Pence has liked facing Wainwright over the years, going 14-for-48 against him with four doubles and two home runs. Gregor Blanco is just 3-for-14 against the right-hander with two strikeouts.

Last Thursday, Ryan Vogelsong pitched well against the Cincinnati Reds, but he ended up with the loss after not getting much help from his offense. He went six innings in that outing and allowed one run on five hits while striking out seven batters and walking zero. Vogelsong has a 3.96 ERA on the year, but he has only given up seven home runs in 91 innings.
