Lance Lynn will try to win his 12th game of the season for the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night when they go up against Tyson Ross and the San Diego Padres.

Lance Lynn had a bad-luck loss last week when he was beaten by the Tampa Bay Rays at home. He pitched 6.1 innings in that start and allowed just two runs (one earned) on six base hits while walking three batters and striking out seven. Lynn is now 11-7 on the season with a 3.05 ERA and he has struck out 117 hitters in 127 innings on the mound.

Padres outfielder Will Venable has four hits in his seven at-bats versus Lynn with a double and a solo home run. Yangervis Solarte is hitless against Lynn in his career in four at-bats.

Last Thursday, Tyson Ross had a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs and ended up winning his ninth game of the year, He pitched six innings in that game and allowed just one run on five hits while walking one and striking out a season-high 10 batters. Ross now has a 9-10 record for the Padres this season and he has struck out 143 batters in 142.2 innings of work.

Cardinals second baseman Mark Ellis has only two hits in his eight-bats against Ross with an RBI, a walk and four strikeouts. None of the Cardinal hitters have been able to hit a home run off of Ross yet.
