On Sunday night, Charlie Morton will be trying to finally pick up his first win of the season when the Pittsburgh Pirates go up against Shelby Miller and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Shelby Miller was able to pick up his third straight win last Monday when he beat the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta. He only pitched five innings in that game, but he limited the Braves to just two earned runs on six hits while striking out five and walking two. Miller has 31 strikeouts through 39.1 innings this season, but he has also walked 23.

Pedro Alvarez only has three hits off of Miller in 15 at-bats, but all three of those hits were of the home run variety. Neil Walker is 5-for-13 against Miller with three doubles, a walk and an RBI in his career.

Charlie Morton was able to end his four-game losing streak in his start against the San Francisco Giants last week, but he ended up with a no decision instead of the win. He pitched a season-high eight innings in that start and gave up just one unearned run on three hits while walking two and striking out three. That solid start dropped his ERA nearly a full run to 3.45.

Matt Holliday, who has eight hits in 25 at-bats against Morton in his career, is the only Cardinal with a home run against the big right-hander. Allen Craig is 8-for-18 against him with a 1.202 OPS.
