Big right-hander Justin Masterson (2-1) will be making his fifth start for the St. Louis Cardinals when they take on veteran Jerome Williams (1-0) and the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon.

In his last start, Justin Masterson went five innings against the Cincinnati Reds and ended up with a no decision. He allowed four earned runs on five base hits in that game while walking two batters and striking out five. Masterson now has a very high 5.64 ERA on the season and he has given up 128 hits in 118 innings on the mound.

Phillies infielder Reid Brignac has five hits in 14 plate appearances against Masterson with a double, a home run and six RBI. Outfielder Ben Revere is just 6-for-29 against him with three RBI and two strikeouts.

Last Monday, Jerome Williams made his second start since being traded to the Phillies and ended up picking up a win. He pitched seven innings in that game and allowed one run on three hits while walking three batters and striking out four. Williams is now 3-5 overall this season and he has given up 85 hits in 70 innings.

Cardinals catcher A.J. Pierzynski has three hits in 17 plate appearances versus Williams in his career with an RBI and two strikeouts. Veteran infielder Jhonny Peralta is 2-for-4 against him with a double and an RBI.
