Michael Wacha is hoping to get his third win of the season when his St. Louis Cardinals go up against Jonathon Niese and the New York Mets on Wednesday.

Michael Wacha only gave up one earned run on five hits in seven innings against the Washington Nationals last Friday, but he still ended up with his first loss of the season. He struck out seven and walked none in that outing, so he did pitch quite well in the game. His ERA now sits at 1.73 and he is striking out 8.7 batters per nine innings.

Mets' hitters don't have too much experience against Wacha, but Omar Quintanilla does have a home run against the right-hander. Daniel Murphy is the only other current Met with a hit off of Wacha.

Jonathon Niese took his second loss of the season last Friday when he faced the Atlanta Braves, but they only scored one run off of him in the outing. He gave up just four hits and struck out seven while walking five in the loss. Niese now has a 0-2 record, but he still has a solid 2.84 ERA and a 1.105 WHIP.

No one on the Cardinals has hit a home run against Niese, but their current roster does have a combined .357 average against him. Mark Ellis is 4-for-6 against the lefty, while Jon Jay is 3-for-8 with a double against him.
