On Sunday afternoon, All-Star right-hander Adam Wainwright (16-9) will get the start for the St. Louis Cardinals when they face second-year starter Jimmy Nelson (2-6) and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Adam Wainwright pitched six decent innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates last week and was able to come away with the win. He gave up four runs on seven hits in that outing while walking one batter and striking out three. Wainwright now has a very solid 2.69 ERA on the season and he has given up just 161 hits in 194 innings of work.

Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez is 22-for-53 against Wainwright in his career with eight doubles, three home runs and eight RBI. Ryan Braun is just 12-for-58 against him with two home runs and 17 strikeouts.

Last Monday, Jimmy Nelson lost his third game in a row when he was beaten by the Chicago Cubs on the road. He gave up three earned runs in six innings of work that day while walking one batter and striking out four. The big right-hander has given up 65 hits in 58.2 innings this year and now has a 4.14 ERA.

Cardinals infielder Jhonny Peralta has two hits in his three at-bats against Nelson with a double and an RBI. Veteran outfielder Matt Holliday is 0-for-2 against him in his career with no walks and two strikeouts.
