22-year-old Carlos Martinez will attempt to win his third game of the season when the St. Louis Cardinals face Wily Peralta and the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.

Against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, Carlos Martinez gave up four runs in six innings, but he ended up with a no decision instead of a loss. He allowed eight hits in that outing and struck out six hitters while walking two. On the season, Martinez is currently 2-3 with a 4.12 ERA and he has only given up four home runs in 59 innings of work.

Brewers All-Star outfielder Carlos Gomez has faced Martinez twice and was struck out by the right-hander both times. None of the Brewers have been able to hit a home run off of Martinez yet.

Wily Peralta had his roughest outing of the year on Tuesday when he was beaten by the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched just 4.1 innings in that game and gave up nine runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking three. Peralta now has a 9-6 on the season with a 3.95 ERA and he has only walked 2.5 batters per nine innings.

Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter has five hits in nine at-bats against Peralta with a double, three walks and a home run. First baseman Matt Adams is just 2-for-9 against him with two strikeouts.
