St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright will be going for his sixth win of the season on Friday when he faces the Chicago Cubs, who will have Travis Wood pitching for them.

Adam Wainwright was able to win his fourth straight start on Sunday when he pitched eight shutout innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He gave up just three hits in that outing and struck out seven while walking two. He has a sparkling 1.20 ERA on the season and has given up just 24 hits in 45 innings.

Starlin Castro has done pretty well against Wainwright in his career, notching eight hits in 28 matchups, including a double and a triple.

Travis Wood picked up his third loss of the season last Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He matched his shortest outing of the season in that game by going just 5.2 innings, and he gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking three. He now has a 3.52 ERA and is striking out 9.1 batters per nine innings.

St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina has done very well against Wood over the years with a .407 batting average in 27 at-bats, which includes three doubles and three home runs with 11 RBI. Outfielder Matt Holliday has eight hits in 26 at-bats against Wood, including two doubles and two home runs.
