Big right-hander Lance Lynn (15-10), who is 1-2 with a 2.45 ERA in five starts this month, will be on the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night when they go up against Wade Miley (8-12) and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Last Sunday, Lance Lynn gave up three runs in six innings to the Cincinnati Reds and ended up taking the loss. He allowed four base hits in that outing and struck out nine batters while walking two. Lynn has been able to strike out 176 batters in 197.2 innings this season and he has a solid 2.73 ERA.

Diamondbacks catcher Jordan Pacheco has two hits in five at-bats against Lynn with a double and two RBI. Outfielder A.J. Pollock is just 1-for-9 against him in his career with no walks and three strikeouts.

Wade Miley had his worst start of the month his last time on the mound when he was beaten by the Colorado Rockies on the road. He gave up six runs in 4.1 innings of work that day while walking four batters and striking out four. Miley now has a 4.35 ERA and he has given up 201 hits in 196.1 innings this season.

Cardinals second baseman Mark Ellis has 10 hits in 24 at-bats against Miley in his career with a double and four solo home runs. Third baseman Matt Carpenter is 4-for-8 against Miley with two doubles and two RBI.
