Tuesday night, the Seattle Mariners will give the ball to Felix Hernandez (14 – 5, 2.07 ERA) as they face the Toronto Blue Jays and R.A. Dickey (13 – 12, 3.82 ERA).  Both pitchers will be making their 33rd starts of the season.

Felix Hernandez pitched to his 3rd straight no-decision in his last start.  It was however a great start for Hernandez as he held the  opposition scoreless over 7 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 11.  “King Felix” has pitched well as of last but his record doesn’t show that.  He is just 3 -3 in his last 10 outings. Last season, Hernandez was 12 -10 with a 3.04 ERA in 31 starts.

In 2013, Hernandez was 1 -1 with a 4.15 ERA in 2 starts against the Blue Jays.  In August, he beat Toronto after holding them to a run (on a solo homer) and 3 hits through 7 innings.

R.A. Dickey had a solid start his last time out but came away with a no-decision.  Dickey allowed 2 runs on 5 hits (including a home run) in 6 innings of work.  He walked a batter and struck out 3.  Before that no-decision, the knuckleballer had won 4 of his previous 5 starts.  That streak helped him to a 5 - 2 record in his last 10 starts.  In 2013, Dickey went 14 – 13 with a 4.21 ERA in 34 starts.

Last season, Dickey was 1 -1 with a 5.27 ERA in 2 starts against Seattle.  In mid-August, he took a hard luck loss to the Mariners after surrendering 2 runs and 7 hits (including a homer) in 6 innings.
