Tanner Scheppers will be looking to have his first good start of the season when the Texas Rangers face off against Erasmo Ramirez and the Seattle Mariners Thursday.

After starting out the season strong with a win in his first outing, Erasmo Ramirez has now lost two in a row. In his third start last Saturday against the Oakland Athletics, Ramirez went just five innings after giving up three runs on six hits. He was able to strike out three, but he walked three, as well. He now has as 5.62 ERA through 16 innings this season.

Elvis Andrus is hitless with two strikeouts in five at-bats against Ramirez, while J.P. Arencibia has zero hits in four plate appearances. Alex Rios and Prince Fielder are the only Rangers' hitters who have hits against the 23-year-old righty.

Tanner Scheppers was able to keep his pitch count low enough to go seven innings against the Houston Astros on Saturday night, but he did end up giving up five earned runs on four hits. A good sign for Texas fans was that he walked just one while striking out six. Scheppers has given up a league-leading 14 runs and currently has a 7.88 ERA on the season.

Scheppers definitely does not like facing Mariners first baseman Justin Smoak, who has been able to hit two home runs and is 3-for-3 against the big right-hander.
