On Sunday afternoon, second-year starter James Paxton (5-1) will be going for his third win in a row when the Seattle Mariners take on Derek Holland (0-0) and the Texas Rangers.

In his eighth start of the season last week, James Paxton was able to beat the Oakland Athletics on the road. He pitched 7.2 innings in that game and gave up just two runs on four base hits while striking out two hitters and walking three. Paxton now has a 1.91 ERA on the season and he has only given up 6.9 hits per nine innings.

The Rangers are one of the few teams that Paxton has already faced this year. Third baseman Adrian Beltre was 2-for-3 against him in that game with two singles.

Left-hander Derek Holland made his first start of the season last week and was able to beat the Kansas City Royals on the road. He gave up just one runs on six base hits in his seven innings of work that day while walking no one and striking out six. He threw 70 of his 105 pitches for strikes in the win and only gave up five line-drives.

Mariners All-Star Robinson Cano is 8-for-25 against Holland in his career with two doubles, a triple and a home run. Dustin Ackley is just 5-for-24 against him with two walks and eight strikeouts.
