On Friday night, veteran right-hander Chris Young and the Seattle Mariners will be taking on Erik Bedard and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Chris Young won his second game in a row and his fifth overall on Saturday by defeating the Detroit Tigers at home. He went six innings in that outing and allowed just two runs on three hits while walking two and striking out six. Young is now 5-2 on the year and has an impressive 3.27 ERA through 63.1 innings.

James Loney has gone up against Young more than any of the other Rays and he is 6-for-20 against him with two doubles, two walks and an RBI. Sean Rodriguez is 2-for-3 against him with a double and a walk.

Lefty Erik Bedard lost for the third consecutive start when he was beaten by the Boston Red Sox on the road. He went 4.2 innings in that game and allowed three earned runs while striking out four. Bedard has gotten some of the best run support of any Major League starter this season (5.24 runs per game), but he is still just 2-4 with a 4.27 ERA.

Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano has five hits in 19 at-bats against Bedard with two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Willie Bloomquist has just two hits against him in 13 career at-bats with three strikeouts.
