Monday afternoon, Erasmo Ramirez will get the call for the Seattle Mariners as they take on David Price and the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be Ramirez’s 8th start and Price’s 14th.

Erasmo Ramirez pitched to a no-decision in his last start and that held his record at 1 – 4 with a 6.82 ERA.  The last outing was rough for Ramirez as he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits (including 2 homers) in just 3 innings.  He walked a batter while striking out 4. David Price saw his record drop to 4- 5 with a 4.03 ERA after losing his last outing.  In that start, Price gave up 5 runs on 9 hits (including a home run) in 7.1 innings of work.  He didn’t walk anyone while striking out 11.  Despite the loss, it was the 3rd outing this season where Price had 8 or more strikeouts.  In 2013, he averaged 7.28 strikeouts per 9 innings en route to a 10 – 8 record and a 3.33 ERA in 27 starts.

Last season, Price pitched to a no-decision in his only start against the Mariners after allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings.   This season, Price beat the Mariners after going the distance and allowing just a run on 6 hits while striking out 12.
