Felix Hernandez will be going for his ninth win of the year for the Seattle Mariners when they go up against Andrew Cashner and the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez lost for only the second time this season last week when he was defeated by the Texas Rangers. King Felix actually pitched well in that game, though, going 8.1 innings and only allowing one run on four hits while walking two and striking out six. On the year, Hernandez is 8-2 with a 2.29 ERA and he has only given up three homers on 106.1 innings pitched.

Carlos Quentin has been able to hit two home runs off of Hernandez in his career, but he is just 5-for-23 overall against him with six strikeouts. Will Venable is 4-for-22 against him with no extra-base hits and seven strikeouts.

Last Friday, Andrew Cashner lost for the sixth time this season when he was beaten by the New York Mets on the road. He went six innings in that start and allowed four earned runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out five. Cashner has pitched very well this season, but the 2.21 runs of run support that he has gotten from his offense has resulted in a 2-6 record for him in 11 starts.

In five plate appearances against Cashner, Logan Morrison is 2-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.
