Monday night, Roenis Elias (9 – 9, 4.14 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Seattle Mariners as they face Jerome Williams (2 - 5, 6.43 ERA) and the Philadelphia Phillies. Elias makes his 24th start as Williams makes his 4th start and 30th appearance.

Jerome Williams pitched to a no-decision in his 1st start for the Phillies after coming over from the Texas Rangers.  The last time out, Williams surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits (including a homer) in 5.1 innings.  He walked a batter and struck out 3.  Williams is now with his 3rd team of the season after starting the year with the Houston Astros before going to the Rangers and finally ending up with the Phillies.  He was 1 - 2 in 2 starts for the Rangers while he worked out of the bullpen for the Astros.  Last season, Williams went 9 – 10 with a 4.57 ERA in 25 starts and 12 relief appearances with the Los Angeles Angels.

In 2013, Williams was 2 – 1 with a 3.50 ERA in 3 starts and a relief appearance against the Mariners.  This season, Williams is 0 – 0 in 3 relief appearances against Seattle.
