Rookie starter Roenis Elias will get the start for the Seattle Mariners when they take on Samuel Deduno and the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night.

In his last start, 25-year-old Roenis Elias made it through just five innings against the Kansas City Royals and ended up with a no decision. He gave up five runs (three earned) on nine hits in that game while walking one and striking out five. He still has a decent 3.50 ERA on the year and the rookie has struck out 42 hitters through 46.1 innings.

This will be the first time that any of the Twins hitters will face Elias. He has featured a 92-94 mph fastball this season along with a slider and a highly-rated curveball.

30-year-old starter Samuel Deduno made just his second start of the season last Sunday and ended up getting a no decision after pitching six good innings against the Detroit Tigers. He gave up three earned runs in that game on six hits while striking out five and walking just one. Through 29.2 innings pitched this season, Deduno has a 3.64 ERA and has given up just one home run.

Through nine career plate appearances against Deduno, Kyle Seager has three hits, three walks and one strikeout. First baseman Justin Smoak is 0-for-7 against him with three strikeouts in his career, while Dustin Ackley is just 1-for-7.
