On Wednesday night, second-year starter James Paxton (6-2), who has a 1.83 ERA in three starts this month, will be on the mound for the Seattle Mariners when they face C.J. Wilson (12-9) and the Los Angeles Angels.

James Paxton won his sixth game of the year last Friday when he was able to beat the Oakland Athletics on the road. He went six innings in that start and gave up just two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out eight batters and walking three. Through 10 starts this year, Paxton has a very solid 1.83 ERA and he has only given up 45 hits in 59 innings.

Angels third baseman David Freese is 2-for-6 against Paxton in his career with a walk and a solo home run. Veteran outfielder Josh Hamilton is hitless in five at-bats against him with no walks and four strikeouts.

Left-hander C.J. Wilson won his second game in a row last Friday when he defeated the Houston Astros as home. He pitched five innings innings in that start and gave up three runs (two earned) on seven base hits while walking three and striking out six. Wilson now has a 4.61 ERA, which is his highest ERA since back in 2008.

Mariners first baseman Justin Smoak is 9-for-35 against Wilson in his career with a double, three home runs and 10 RBI. Kyle Seager is just 3-for-28 against him with three walks and 13 strikeouts.
