Sunday afternoon, the Seattle Mariners will take the field behind Chris Young (11 - 6, 3.20 ERA) as they square off against the Detroit tigers and Robbie Ray (1 -2, 5.31 ERA). Young will make his 24^th start and 25^th appearance as Ray makes his 5^th start and 6^th appearance.

Chris Young notched his 2^nd win in as many starts his last time out. In the victory, Young allowed just a run on 2 hits in 6 innings as he walked 2 and struck out 3. It's been over a month since Young has registered a loss and he is 5 -2 in his last 10 outings. Young has been solid as he makes his way back from a nerve condition in his shoulder that cost him much of the 2013 season.

Young has already faced the Tigers once this season and it was a very productive outing for him. He got the win after holding Detroit to 2 runs and 3 hits (including a home run) in 6 innings.

Robbie Ray took the loss his last time out in his 1^st start since being recalled from Triple-A Toledo. Ray surrendered 4 runs and 6 hits in 5 innings of work. He walked 2 batters and struck out 5. After 2 very good starts in his first stint in the Majors back in May, Ray has taken a step back. But as long as starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez is out, Ray will be expected to contribute.

Ray has never faced the Mariners and will need to summon some confidence along with the help of the scouting report if he wants to add another victory to his stats.
