On Friday, Felix Hernandez (13-4), who hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in 17 consecutive games, will be on the mound for the Seattle Mariners when they face Joe Kelly (0-1) and the Boston Red Sox.

Last Saturday, Felix Hernandez could only make it through five innings against the Detroit Tigers on the road and ended up taking the loss. He allowed two runs on seven base hits in that start and walked no one while striking out three. He still has an excellent 1.99 ERA on the season and he has only given up 130 hits in his 185.1 innings of work.

Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli has hit two home runs off of Hernandez in his career, but he is just 8-for-39 overall against him with 14 strikeouts. Designated hitter David Ortiz is 11-for-34 against Hernandez with a double, a home run and six RBI.

Joe Kelly made his third start for the Red Sox last weekend and ended up getting beaten by the Houston Astros at home. He could only make it through four innings in that game and allowed seven runs while walking a season-high six batters and striking out three. Kelly now has a 4.67 ERA on the season and has given up 56 hits in 52 innings.

Mariners outfielder Logan Morrison has two hits in five at-bats against Kelly in his career with a home run and two RBI. All of the other Mariners will be facing the right-hander for the first time on Friday.
