Tuesday night, the Seattle Mariners are expected to give the ball to Erasmo Ramirez as they take on the Atlanta Braves and Gavin Floyd. Ramirez would be making his 7th start as Floyd makes his 6th.

Erasmo Ramirez pitched to his 2nd straight loss in his last start and that gives him a 1- 4 record with a 6.00 ERA as he comes into this one. Ramirez gave up 2 runs on 6 hits (including a home run) in 6 innings of work as he walked 1 and struck out 4 his last time out.  Last season, Ramirez went 5 – 3 with an ERA of 4.98 in 13 starts and a relief appearance.

In 2013, Ramirez didn’t face the Braves and he has only faced 2 hitters in the Atlanta lineup in his career.  Justin Upton is 0 for 3 while Ryan Doumit is 1 for 1 with a double. 

Gavin Floyd took another loss in his last outing and he is still seeking his first win of the year.  Floyd dropped to 0 - 2 with a 2.37 ERA after giving up just 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings of work as he walked 3 and struck out 3.   Floyd’s line wasn’t that bad but when your team gets shutout, there is no way to get a win. In 2013, Floyd was 0 – 4 with a 5.18 ERA in 5 starts with the Chicago White Sox.

Last season, Floyd didn’t face the Mariners but he has seen many of the hitters in their lineup before. If Floyd has to face Robinson Cano, it could get interesting.  Cano is 6 of 23 with 3 homers and 6 RBIs against the right-hander.
