Friday night, Tim Hudson (8 – 9, 3.03 ERA) gets the call for the San Francisco Giants as they take on Doug Fister (12 -3, 2.20 ERA) and the Washington Nationals. It will be Hudson’s 25th start and Fister’s 19th. 

Tim Hudson was lit up in his last outing but he managed to escape with a no-decision.  In just 4 innings of work, Hudson was touched up for 5 runs and 8 hits.  He walked 3 batters and struck out 3.  Hudson hasn’t won a game in over a month’s time and in his last 10 starts, he has a record of 1 – 6.  Last season, Hudson posted a record of 8 – 7 with a 3.97 ERA in 21 starts for the Atlanta Braves.

In 2013, Hudson was 2 – 0 with an ERA of 0.84 in 3 starts against the Nationals.  Earlier this season, he beat Washington after holding them to a run on 6 hits in 7 innings.

Doug Fister had a solid outing his last time out but failed to get the decision.  He surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings as he walked a batter and struck out 5.  Fister has been a beast as of late and boasts an impressive 7 – 1 record in his last 10 starts. Last season, Fister went 14 – 9 with an ERA of 3.67 in 32 starts and a relief appearance for the Detroit Tigers.

Fister didn’t see the Giants in 2013 but he has seen them once earlier this season.  In that start, Fister got the win behind 7 innings of shutout ball.
