On Saturday night, Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants will go up against St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright in Game 1 of the NLCS. The giants were able to beat the Cardinals in four out of their seven meetings this season.

Madison Bumgarner took the loss against the Washington Nationals in Game 3 of the NLDS last week, but he pitched pretty well in that game. In seven innings of work, he gave up three runs (two earned) and struck out six and walked one. He's now 1-1 this postseason with a very solid 1.12 ERA for the Giants.

Against the Cardinals this year, Bumgarner went 1-1 in two starts with a 3.00 ERA. Outfielder Matt Holliday is just 2-for-16 against him in his career with two walks and five strikeouts, while Jon Jay is 5-for-11 against the right-hander with three doubles and two RBI.

Adam Wainwright pitched in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers and struggled in what ended up being a no decision for him. He went 4.1 innings in that game and gave up six runs on 11 hits while walking one and striking out five.

In two starts against the Giants this season, Wainwright went 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA and he gave up 12 hits in 12 innings of work. Outfielder Hunter Pence has faced the right-hander more than any of the other Giants and is 14-for-51 against him with four doubles, two home runs and four RBI.
