Yusmeiro Petit (5-4), who is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA this month, will get the start for the San Francisco Giants when they go up against Andrew Cashner (4-7) and the San Diego Padres on Saturday night.

On Sunday, Yusmeiro Petit gave up four runs (three earned) in seven innings of work against the Los Angeles Dodgers and ended up taking the loss. He allowed eight hits in that start and walked no one while striking out eight. Petit now owns a 3.64 ERA following that loss and he has only given up 88 hits in 106.1 innings this season.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has two hits in his three at-bats against Petit with a home run and two RBI. Will Venable is hitless in five at-bats against him with no walks and two strikeouts.

Andrew Cashner won his second consecutive game on Monday when he shut out the Philadelphia Phillies at home. He gave up just two hits in those nine innings of work and he struck out seven batters while walking one. Cashner has a fantastic 2.20 ERA on the season and he has struck out 82 batters in 110.1 innings.

Giants catcher Buster Posey has been able to get five hits in 12 at-bats against Cashner with two home runs and three RBI. All-Star outfielder Hunter Pence is just 1-for-12 against him with no walks and three strikeouts.
