Tuesday night, the San Francisco Giants will take the field behind Tim Hudson as they face the Pittsburgh Pirates and Charlie Morton.  Both pitchers will be making their 7th starts of the season.

Tim Hudson picked up his 2nd straight win and boosted his record to 4 – 1 with an ERA of 2.17 after his last start.  In that outing, Hudson went 8.2 innings and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits (including a home run) without issuing a walk and striking out 6.  Hudson is certainly on track to better his results of 2013 when he went 8 – 7 with an ERA of 3.97 in 21 starts for the Atlanta Braves. 

Last season, Hudson was blown out in his only start against the Pirates.  In just 4 innings of work, Hudson surrendered 6 runs on 9 hits (including a homer) and amassed an ERA of 13.50.  Pittsburgh’s Jose Tabata is 3 of 8 against Hudson with a double and 3 RBIs. 

Charlie Morton comes into this one after losing his 4th straight start, which dropped his record to 0 – 4 with a 4.21 ERA.  In his last time out, Morton surrendered 4 runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Last season, Morton was 7 - 4 with a 3.26 ERA in 20 starts.

In 2013, Morton was 1 - 1 with an ERA of 2.13 in 2 starts against the Giants.  San Francisco’s Angel Pagan is an impressive 9 of 12 with 2 triples and 2 RBIs against Morton.
