San Francisco Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong will want to end his two-game losing streak on Monday night when he goes head-to-head with Oakland Athletics right-hander Jesse Chavez.

Ryan Vogelsong had a decent game against the St. Louis Cardinals last Tuesday, but he ended up taking the loss because the Giants' offense couldn't score a run in that game. He went seven innings in that outing and gave up just two runs on six hits while walking on and striking out eight. Vogelsong has been able to strike out 86 batters in 98 innings this year, but he has also given up 97 hits.

A's infielder Alberto Callaspo has two hits in his three at-bats against Vogelsong with a double and a strikeout, while veteran Coco Crisp is hitless against him in three at-bats.

Jesse Chavez had one of his worst starts of the year last week against the Detroit Tigers and ended up with his fifth loss of the season. In five innings of work that day, he gave up five earned runs on eight hits while walking four batters and striking out five. He now has a 6-5 record with a 3.23 ERA and he has 92 strikeouts in 103 innings.

Giants outfielder Hunter Pence has one hit in three at-bats against Chavez with a double and an RBI, while Pablo Sandoval is 2-for-2 against him with an RBI.
