Veteran Jake Peavy (0-1) will be looking to end his three-game losing streak when he and the San Francisco Giants take on rookie Jacob deGrom (5-5) and the New York Mets on Saturday night.

Right-hander Jake Peavy made his first start for the San Francisco Giants on Sunday and ended up losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers at home. He went six innings in that game and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out five. Peavy is 1-10 overall this season with a 4.71 ERA and he has already given up 20 home runs.

Mets outfielder Chris Young has hit a home run off of Peavy, but he is just 4-for-25 overall against him with eight strikeouts. Third baseman David Wright is only 2-for-16 against Peavy with five walks and seven strikeouts.

On Sunday, Jacob deGrom was able to win his fourth game in a row when he defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on the road. He pitched 6.1 shutout innings in that game and walked two batters while striking out four. His ERA is now down to a solid 2.79 and he has struck out 83 batters in 87 innings of work.

Giants new second baseman Dan Uggla struck out in his only at-bats against deGrom. All of the other Giants will be facing deGrom for the first time on Saturday night.
