Ryan Vogelsong will be taking the mound for the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night when they face Josh Beckett and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It took six starts to do it, but Ryan Vogelsong was finally able to pick up his first win of the season this past Saturday when he beat the Atlanta Braves. He went six innings in that outing and gave up just one earned run on five hits while walking four and striking out six. His ERA came down nearly a run to 4.60, but his FIP is still high at 5.50.

Matt Kemp has done well against Vogelsong over the years by going 7-for-23 with a double, a triple, a home run and six RBI. Hanley Ramirez, on the other hand, has just two hits in 19 at-bats against the veteran right-hander.

Josh Beckett gave up four earned runs against the Miami Marlins last Friday and took his first loss of the season. He went 6.2 innings in that outing and gave up eight hits while striking out a season-high eight batters while walking just one. His ERA is still a solid 3.14 through 28.2 innings.

Beckett has not done well against Giants' outfielder Hunter Pence in the past, giving up eight hits to him, including one home run, in 19 plate appearances. Beckett has gotten the better of Angel Pagan, though, by holding him to just two hits in 13 at-bats.
