Saturday afternoon, Matt Cain and the San Francisco Giants will take on Zack Greinke and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Cain will make his 6th start as Greinke makes his 8th.

Matt Cain returns from the 15-Day DL after a finger laceration to make this start.  Cain is 0 – 3 with a 4.35 ERA and should have taken another loss in his last start after a rough 6 innings of work.  In that outing, Cain allowed 7 runs on 10 hits (including 2 home runs) with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  It looks like Cain might not end up with any  better result than last season when he went 8 - 10 with a 4.00 ERA in 30 starts.

In 2013, Cain was 1 - 2 with a 3.64 ERA in 5 starts against the Dodgers.  This season, he lost to LA after giving up 5 runs on 6 hits (including 3 homers) in 6 innings.

Zack Greinke got his first loss of the season in his last start.  He fell to 5 – 1 with a 2.35 ERA after giving up 2 runs on 5 hits (including a home run) with a walk and a strikeout in a rain shortened 3 innings of work.  Greinke is looking just as good as he did last season when he went 15 – 4 with a 2.63 ERA in 28 starts.

In 2013, Greinke didn’t get a decision in his only start against the Giants.  This season, he beat San Francisco after giving up 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings.
