Sunday afternoon, Tim Hudson will take the mound for the San Francisco Giants as they face Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Hudson makes his 8th start as Kershaw makes his 3rd.

Tim Hudson took the loss in his last start as his record fell to 4 -2 with an ERA of 1.99.  In that outing, Hudson went 8.2 innings and allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits with a walk and 5 strikeouts.  Hudson is looking a lot better this season than he did in 2013 when he went 8 – 7 with a 3.97 ERA in 21 starts for the Atlanta Braves.

Last season, Hudson lost his only start against the Dodgers despite allowing just a run on 4 hits in 7 innings.  He will have to use caution against Adrian Gonzalez as Gonzalez is a .450 hitter with 2 homers and 4 RBIs against Hudson.

Clayton Kershaw has looked good in his first 2 starts of the season as he comes into this one with a 2 – 0 record and an ERA of 0.66.  In his last outing, Kershaw pitched 7 innings of shutout ball and allowed just 9 hits without a walk while striking out 9.   Last season, Kershaw took home the Cy Young award after going 16 – 9 with a 1.83 ERA in 33 starts. 

In 2013, Kershaw was 3 - 1 with a 1.38 ERA in 5 starts against the Giants.     He had 28 strikeouts to just 5 walks in 39 innings of work.   The Giants are batting just .200 against Kershaw and he should have no problem handling the lineup this time around.
