On Thursday, May 23, the San Francisco Giants will face the Colorado Rockies in the final meeting of a three game series. The Giants will send Tim Hudson to the mound to face Jorge De La Rosa.

In Hudson’s last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he pitched six innings while giving up two earned runs on eight hits for the no-decision. Hudson holds a 4-2 record with a 2.09 ERA. Hudson has been dealing with a hip injury and is expected to be back in the lineup on Thursday. He’s pitched well this season in his eight starts and will hope to add a win on Thursday.

The Rockies’ Charlie Blackmon has played well when facing Hudson going 5-for-8 with a double as well as Justin Morneau who has a home run and two RBI when facing Hudson.

After starting off the season with an 0-3 record and a 7.58 ERA, De La Rosa has come storming back with five straight wins and improving his record to 5-3 with a 4.14 ERA. In his last start against the San Diego Padres, De La Rosa pitched seven shutout innings and only gave up one hit. De La Rosa had been dealing with a bit of back tightness which led the Rockies staff to pull him after just 89 pitches. This was strictly precautionary as he’ll be fine for his next start against the Giants.

Current San Francisco players are hitting .269 when facing De La Rosa going 42-for-156. De La Rosa has only surrendered three home runs in 152 at bats while striking out 26.
