On Wednesday night, Jake Peavy (1-3) will try to start his first winning streak of the season when the San Francisco Giants go up against Edwin Jackson (6-13) and the Chicago Cubs.

Jake Peavy was finally able to pick up a win as a member of the Giants last Wednesday when he defeated the Chicago White Sox at home. He pitched seven strong innings in that game and gave up just one run on four base hits while walking three and striking out three. Peavy is now 2-12 overall this season with a 4.57 ERA.

Cubs infielder Luis Valbuena has six hits in 15 at-bats against Peavy in his career with two doubles and an RBI. First baseman Anthony Rizzo is just 1-for-6 against him with a triple and a strikeout.

Veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson could only make it through 4.2 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last week and ended up taking the loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits in that outing while walking three batters and striking out four. He has a very high 5.74 ERA on the year, which is his highest ERA since 2007.

Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval has eight hits in 15 at-bats against Jackson in his career with two doubles, a home run and five RBI. Outfielder Hunter Pence is just 3-for-15 against him with three walks and three strikeouts.
