On Saturday night, veteran right-hander Ryan Vogelsong will be on the mound for the San Francisco Giants and will be taking on Brandon McCarthy and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Last Saturday, Ryan Vogelsong pitched just five innings against the Colorado Rockies and ended up with a no decision for his efforts. He allowed three runs in that start on seven hits while striking out two and walking one. Vogelsong has a 4-3 record this season with a 3.94 ERA and his 7.7 strikeouts per nine innings is his highest strikeout rate since his rookie year.

Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill has nine hits in 19 at-bats against Vogelsong with a double, a home run and three RBI. Jordan Pacheco is 4-for-10 against him with two doubles, a home run and two RBI.

Big right-hander Brandon McCarthy pitched well in his start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, but all he could get out of the game was a no decision. He went seven innings in that game and gave up three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out two. Through 15 starts, he is just 1-9 with a 5.18 ERA and he has given up 107 hits in 92 innings pitched.

Veteran outfielder Hunter Pence is 7-for-16 against McCarthy with a double, a triple and a solo home run. Brandon Crawford is 4-for-9 against him with a double and a triple.
