Right-hander Tyson Ross (11-10) will attempt to extend his undefeated streak to six games when he and the San Diego Padres take on Lance Lynn (12-8) and the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Tyson Ross had another solid start for the Padres on Sunday when he beat the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. He went six innings in that game and allowed just two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three. He has only given up 134 hits in 160.2 innings this season and he now has a 2.63 ERA after that win.

Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is 2-for-2 against Ross in his career with a double and two walks. None of the Cardinals have been able to hit a home run off of Ross yet.

Big right-hander Lance Lynn pitched 5.2 innings against the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend and came away with his 12th win of the season. He allowed three runs on nine base hits in that outing while walking one and striking out six. He now has a 2.97 ERA on the year and he has struck out 133 batters in 145.2 innings on the mound.

Will Venable has four hits in 10 plate appearances against Lynn in his career with a double and a solo home run. Yangervis Solarte is 0-for-6 against him with a walk and no strikeouts.
