On Thursday night, Eric Stults (5-13) will be going for his third win in a row when the San Diego Padres go up against John Lackey (1-1) and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Eric Stults had his second straight strong start last Saturday when he was able to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. He gave up just one run in 6.1 innings of work in that game and walked no one while striking out six. He gave up a whopping nine runs on five innings that day while striking out three and walking two. He has given up 157 hits in 149.1 innings this season and he currently owns a 3.98 ERA.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has two hits in his five at-bats against Lackey with a double, a triple and an RBI. Will Venable is 1-for-2 against him with a home run and two RBI.
