On Monday night, big right-hander Andrew Cashner will try to get his first win for the San Diego Padres since back on April 16 when he faces Matt Cain and the San Francisco Giants.

On Wednesday, Andrew Cashner pitched seven strong innings against the Seattle Mariners, but all he got out of the game was a no decision. He allowed just one earned run on seven hits in that outing and was able to strike out two while walking two. Cashner may only have a 2-6 record this season, but he also has one of the best ERAs in the league at 2.36 and he has only given up two home runs on 76.1 innings.

Giants catcher Buster Posey has five hits in 12 at-bats against Cashner in his career with two home runs and three RBI. Outfielder Hunter Pence has only one hit against the right-hander in 12 at-bats with three strikeouts.

Matt Cain's struggles continued on Tuesday when he allowed seven earned runs to the Chicago White Sox in five innings of work and he picked up his fifth loss of the season. He went five innings in that game and gave up 10 hits, including two home runs, while walking one and striking out three. Cain is now 1-5 through 11 starts and he is walking more batters and striking out less than he did last season.

Will Venable is just 9-for-41 against Cain, but he has hit two home runs off of him.
