On Thursday night, Andrew Cashner (5-7) will be going for his fourth win in a row for the San Diego Padres when they take on Yusmeiro Petit (5-5) and the San Francisco Giants.

Andrew Cashner pitched eight strong innings against the San Francisco Giants last Saturday and picked up his fifth win of the year. He gave up just two runs on four base hits in that game and struck out seven batters while walking one. Cashner has an excellent 2.21 ERA this season and he has only walked 2.1 batters per nine innings.

Giants catcher Buster Posey has seven hits in his 15 at-bats against Cashner with two home runs and three RBI. Outfielder Hunter Pence is just 2-for-16 against him with no walks, a home run and five strikeouts.

Over the weekend, Yusmeiro Petit lost his second game in a row when he was defeated by the San Diego Padres on the road. In 5.1 innings of work that day, he gave up three runs (two earned) on four base hits and walked three hitters while striking out seven. Petit now has a 3.63 ERA this year and he has struck out 125 batters in 111.2 innings.

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal has two hits in seven at-bats against Petit in his career with a double and an RBI. Alexi Amarista only has one hit in eight at-bats versus Petit with two walks and two strikeouts.
