Rookie starter Jesse Hahn (7-2) will try to make it four wins in a row when the San Diego Padres face Phil Hughes (10-8) and the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.

Jesse Hahn had another good start for the Padres in his last outing when he defeated the St. Louis Cardinals at home. He went seven innings in that game and allowed just one run on four hits while walking two and striking out three. Hahn has 54 strikeouts in 53.2 innings of work this year, and he now has a very solid 2.01 ERA.

The Twins will be getting their first chance to face Hahn on Tuesday night. So far, he has held left-handed hitters to a .168 batting average, while right-handed hitters are batting just .198 against him.

Last Wednesday, Phil Hughes suffered his third loss in a row when he was beaten by the Kansas City Royals on the road. He pitched six innings in that outing and gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking one. Hughes now has a 4.12 ERA, but his 2.68 FIP suggests that he has been very unlucky this season.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has four hits in his seven at-bats against Hughes with two walks and a double. Shortstop Everth Cabrera is just 1-for-6 against him with two RBI and two strikeouts.
